Venues for Hire

Halls and Community Centres within Murrindindi Shire can be hired for private functions such as meetings, seminars, exhibitions, weddings and celebrations.

Public Liability Insurance

In hiring a Council-managed venue, eligible applicants will need to supply their own Public Liability Insurance or apply for Public Liability Insurance provided by Council (conditions apply).

Alexandra Council Chamber

The Alexandra Council Chamber is situated on Perkins Street Alexandra. It has access to a kitchen.

Alexandra Shire Hall

Originally constructed in 1882 as a municipal hall, the Alexandra Shire Hall stands proudly in the town's main street. Having retained many of its original features it is a true monument to the history of the Alexandra township. Centrally located the hall offers easy access to patrons and visitors alike and is popular for community gatherings and celebrations.

Kinglake Community Centre

The Kinglake Community Centre, on Extons Road, was officially opened on 23 May 1993 after many years of planning, fundraising and hard work from the community. The Centre is home to the Kinglake Senior Citizens, Craft Guild and the Kinglake Dancing School.

Thornton Memorial Hall

The Thornton Memorial Hall was erected in 1953 as a memorial for those who served and sacrificed in two world wars. Located a short stroll from the main street and home to the Thornton branch of the Returned and Services League, the hall is a much-loved venue for the community and its families for a variety of celebrations and events.

Yea Shire Hall

The foundation stone for this magnificent building was laid in 1877. The Yea Shire Hall was originally home to the Yea Shire Council. This imposing, heritage-listed hall stands three storeys high, crowned with a clock tower and flagpole, is still a prominent feature of Yea’s streetscape. This hall is the perfect venue for family and community celebrations.

Yea Council Chambers

The Yea Council Chambers is situated within the existing Customer and Library services building. It has access to a commercial kitchen and smaller meeting rooms that can be sectioned off.

Yea Railway Station Goods Shed

The Yea Railway Station Goods Shed is situated opposite the former Yea Railway Station. It was opened in 1883 and closed with the line in 1978. This building is idea for celebrations and gatherings. The side doors can be opened to create a larger space, and it is situated close to other facilities in the area, including playgrounds, BBQ and toilet facilities.
