Works are being undertaken to improve Smiths Bridge on Johnsons Creek Road, Maintongoon. The project will involve upgrading the bridge with new piles to support the aging footings and replacing the existing timber decking with a precast concrete deck. These improvements are designed to increase the bridge’s load capacity.

Site preparation works have begun, with structural works scheduled for the week starting Monday 19 August. During this period, there will be intermittent traffic disruptions as the piles are installed. Additionally, the bridge will be fully closed for one day later in the week to facilitate the deck replacement, weather permitting. We ask all motorists to follow the on-site signage.

4WD access to Stevensons Lane and the northern end of Johnsons Creek Road will remain available during the bridge closures via an alternative crossing point.

Efforts will be made to stagger the work to minimise disruption to traffic as much as possible.
