Lost and Found Animals
Animals, including stock found wandering in the Shire will be impounded by our Community Safety officers.
It is essential that all cats and dogs are registered and wear their current, council issued identification tag. This will ensure that in the event that a registered pet is found wandering, the owner can be contacted and the animal returned. You can find out more on our Pet Registration page.
Landowners with farm animals are responsible for securing them on their property through the provision of adequate fencing. Failure to do so may result in large fines. Stock found wandering outside the owner’s property may be impounded and if not claimed will be sold at market.
If you have lost or found an animal or have encountered wandering stock, please contact Council's Community Safety team immediately on (03) 5772 0333.
