Hunt for the Longest Gum Leaf

Guess what? In celebration of National Tree Day, Council has a challenge for you:

The ‘Longest Gum Leaf’ competition!

So, grab your coziest scarf, get out in nature and hunt for the longest gum leaf you can find! Once you’ve found the most epic leaf out there, head on over to one of our libraries in Alexandra, Yea or Kinglake and show off your prized leaf.

You’ll officially go in the running for some cool prizes for both kids and grown-ups too!

Entries close 15 July 2024.

Winners will be announced at a National Tree Day event on Tuesday 16 July, after a talk by well-known ABC Radio presenter Dr Gregory Moore OAM. There will be a separate longest leaf competition on the night of the event as well, so bring along another leaf!
