Cr Damien Gallagher and his family have their rural property in Alexandra. They have fallen in love with the region and have fully embraced the prospect of building a future here.
Cr Gallagher continues to be involved in a number of local organisations including the Alexandra Truck Ute & Rod Show, Alexandra Pro Rodeo, and the Alexandra District Horse and Pony Club committees. He is a volunteer firefighter with the Acheron Fire Brigade and he holds a number of board roles for commercial, financial, and not-for-profit community organisations. Professionally, Damien leads a team of software developers and solution engineers as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director for Hardcat Pty. Ltd., a Melbourne company delivering asset and evidence management and tracking solutions globally.
At home he’s a husband and proud dad, and is happiest in the garden, on the mower, or tending to his bees, chooks, or small herd of Angus cattle.
In local government, Cr Gallagher has represented Council at the Municipal Association of Victoria, the Victorian Local Governance Association, and Rural Councils Victoria. In 2024 he chaired the Hume Regional Local Government Network, and in 2024 was appointed to the Local Government Minister’s Mayoral Advisory Panel. He is committed to ensuring that local government is recognised as a valuable partner with our state government providing services and amenity to our community. He is also driven to supporting sustainable growth to attract investment, new businesses, and health services opportunities that come to vibrant, growing regions.
Cr Gallagher represents Murrindindi Shire inclusively and with pride to the very best of his ability. Cr Damien Gallagher returns to Council having been first elected in 2020. He has served the Murrindindi Shire community as Deputy Mayor and Mayor. He dedicates himself to supporting the entire Murrindindi Shire community and to honouring the privilege vested in him; and every day, striving to realise our community’s vision for this special place.
