Councillors
Murrindindi Shire Council is divided into seven wards including: Koriella, Kinglake, King Parrot, Cheviot, Cathedral, Eildon and Red Gate. Each ward has a Councillor representative who is elected every four years by the community, and the Mayor is elected each year by the Councillors.

The role of a councillor is to:
- participate in Council's decision-making process
- represent the interests of the community and
- contribute to the strategic direction through the Council Plan and other strategic documents
Councillors must take the following oath or affirmation:
"I will undertake the duties of the office of Councillor in the best interests of the municipal community.
I will abide by the Model Councillor Code of Conduct and uphold the Model Councillor Code of Conduct and uphold the standards of conduct set out in the Model Councillor Code of Conduct.
I will faithfully and impartially carry out and exercise the functions, powers, authorities and discretions vested in me under the Local Government Act 2020 and any other Act to the best of my skill and judgement".
Newly elected Councillors following the 26 October 2024 election, were sworn-in on 13 November 2024.
