An Extreme Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban has been declared for Saturday 22 February for Murrindindi Shire. For the safety of our staff and community, we are limiting some of our services.

Road Closure - Molesworth-Dropmore Road

Works on Molesworth-Dropmore Road, Molesworth, to reconstruct collapsed culverts and damaged roadway, will commence Wednesday 26 February 2025 and are expected to be completed by Wednesday 12 March 2025, weather permitting.

SMS Rates Overdue Phishing Scam

Council is aware of a SMS Phishing scam targeting Murrindindi Shire residents. The message states that their rates are now overdue and demand payment through a link. Do not click on this link. Council will never send a SMS message demanding payment for overdue rates.

Permits required for Caravan and Camping Areas

Battery Recycling Soars by 145% in Murrindindi Shire

Murrindindi Shire Council is delighted to report a significant increase in battery recycling, with a 145% rise at the Alexandra Resource Recovery Centre, equating to an additional 436 kg of batteries diverted from landfill over the past year.

Your last resort during a bushfire

A Neighbourhood Safer Place - Bushfire Place of Last Resort (NSP-BPLR) is usually marked by a green sign with white writing. These sites are intended as a last resort when all other plans have failed during a fire. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) advises that ‘leaving early is the safest option to protect yourself and your family.’

Keep your recycling loose in Murrindindi Shire

Murrindindi Shire Council is encouraging residents to keep their recycling loose - not in plastic bags - so more materials can be properly processed and turned into new products. This initiative supports a statewide goal to divert 80% of waste from landfill by 2030 and create a more sustainable future for our community.

Melba Highway Landslip Repairs Notification

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) has informed us about upcoming repair works on two landslips along the Melba Highway in Dixons Creek, between Healesville-Kinglake Road and north of Hunts Lane. The Melba Highway will be closed from 17 February through to the end of March, with detours in place.
