This week marks 50 years of the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES). Council encourages all residents to appreciate the incredible work of this service and update your emergency contact list today.

During an emergency, a specialised agency will communicate with the community.

Know what each agency does:

  • Emergency Services Victoria coordinates responses and provides safety information.
  • Bureau of Meteorology provides weather forecasts, warnings and updates
  • Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) handles floods, storms, sandbagging, rescues, and education.
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA) manages fire prevention, response, education, and updates.
  • Victorian Police (VicPol) assists with crowd control and public safety.
  • Ambulance Victoria - provides emergency medical response and other services like non-emergency transport and air ambulance.

In any life-threatening emergency, call Triple Zero (000) first.

For non-life-threatening emergencies, contact the relevant agency for the best assistance.
