Meet Josh, Project Engineer
Published on 21 March 2025
Josh is one of Council's Project Engineers, working on a variety of projects across the Shire. He loves using his engineering skills to serve the community. We asked Josh a few questions, so you could find out a bit more about him and his role.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your work background?
I recently moved to North East Victoria from the Barossa Valley where I worked as a Civil Project Engineer for Gawler Council. I mainly worked on delivering infrastructure projects but also assisted with improving Council’s project delivery procedures.
I have two cats and a wonderful wife named Emily, and in my spare time I enjoy exploring nature, playing board games, and competing as a snare drummer in bagpipe bands around Australia and the world.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy working as a Council Project Engineer because it allows me to directly serve the community. As a community-driven person, I value this rare opportunity to use my skills in a meaningful way.
What do you love most about Murrindindi Shire?
I love the countryside of Murrindindi Shire, and its diverse nature. I enjoy the days when I’m out “on site” and can appreciate what a beautiful part of the world I get to work in. A big part of my role is making sure we protect our environment when completing projects and works.
What does a typical day working in your role look like?
I manage Council projects from start to finish, including drainage upgrades, road resealing, and bridge repairs. I work with contractors to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. I also communicate with residents, respond to their queries, and inspect infrastructure for damage to determine if it needs renewal.
