Murrindindi Shire Council’s revamped 2023-24 Grants and Sponsorships Program has been a resounding success, with 124 grant applications received. The Program has provided a total of $205,648 in funding to support local groups, individuals, and events.

The funding was distributed among six different grant streams, 53 Quick Response grants totalling $84,117, 6 Sponsorship grants totalling $13,700, 12 Community Projects grants totalling $53,006, 7 Local Events grants totalling $20,825, and 3 Events of Major Significance grants totalling $34,000.

The Grants and Sponsorships Program has supported a wide range of local groups, individuals and events over the past financial year highlighting the community's leadership and passion in enhancing social and economic outcomes. You can find a full list of recipients below.

One of the highlights of the program last financial year was the Thornton Trike Track, a priority stemming from the Thornton Community Plan developed in 2023. This project provided the platform to advance the community plan and has been popular with the community, encouraging people to go outdoors, stay active and connect with each other while developing our young people in road safety.

Another success story is the Comedy for a Cause event held by the Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter. The event, which took place at the Flowerdale Hall on Saturday 13 April, raised a total of $6,780.61. The funds will be used to purchase an x-ray machine and other equipment for the shelter in support for injured wildlife. The event was well-received, with 76 attendees enjoying a night of laughter and fun, all while supporting a good cause.

The success of this program is a testament to the strength and resilience of our local groups, volunteers and individuals. Their innovative projects and events have not only enriched our community but also showcased the spirit of our Shire. We look forward to continuing to support these initiatives and seeing what our community can achieve in the future’.
