Moving Murrindindi
Moving Murrindindi is a partnership program between Council and Community Accessability Inc.
The program aims to connect volunteer drivers with senior citizens, people with a disability or financially disadvantaged members of our community who might be in need of a low-cost transport option.
With three community vehicles, one in Alexandra, Kinglake and Yea, clients wishing to use the Moving Murrindindi service will be able to book a car and driver through Community Accessability Inc.
Volunteer drivers will work on a rotating basis to get those in need of assistance to medical appointments, social outings or other major transport hubs.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact Council on (03) 5772 0333 or Community Accessability Inc. on 1300 704 503.

Other opportunities
Interested in becoming a volunteer? We've put together a list of community groups and organisations that have told us they are looking for volunteers. Visit our Volunteer Hub to find out more.
Council is committed to provide learning opportunities through work-experience and vocational placements for people so as to gain an understanding of the requirements of their career choices.
This helps build career paths for people in our local community and also helps develop career paths and interest for people studying in courses that are required in our local government.
School based work experience
Council staff liaise with Alexandra Secondary College and Yea High School to facilitate work experience placements. However Council will try to accommodate any request from students in our community.
Vocational Placements
Council will consider requests for placement for up to three months to assist people to obtain credit and experience towards their course.
Vocational placements can only be offered when there is sufficient operational and supervisory capacity to support the placement.
The main requirement is that participants are enrolled in a course from a complying institution - universities, TAFE colleges and schools (public or private) and other authorised Registered Training Organisations (RTO's).
All successful participants will be expected to undertake an online police check.
Participants on placement are not employees and are not entitled to wage or employee entitlements provided under the Fair Work Act. Depending on the length of placement, a small stipend may be paid to assist with expenses.
For more information on placements call Council on (03) 5772 0333 or send your application to customer@murrindindi.vic.gov.au
