Council has multiple exciting opportunities for Youth Engagement Project Officers to support the increase of youth engagement and participation across Murrindindi Shire through facilitation of youth programs and events.

These positions will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of local young people through leading activities that connect, educate and promote engagement among people aged between 12 – 24 years.  

About this opportunity

In this role of Youth Engagement Project Officer, you will co-design, deliver and evaluate exciting programs, initiatives and events for Murrindindi Shire young people. You will build strong relationships with various stakeholders and work with young people to increase youth engagement across Murrindindi Shire.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will strive to create a more fulfilling community enabling greater youth engagement in Council programs. You will:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate innovative youth programs that increase Murrindindi Shire youth engagement.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships to support youth-led initiatives.
  • Foster relationships with diverse youth and communities to promote inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Increase community understanding of Council’s Youth Services and initiatives.
  • Work under the direction of the Youth and Community Development Officer to connect young people to their communities through recreation, leadership, arts, music, culture and environmental opportunities within Murrindindi Shire.

What will you bring

  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar position, with a proven capacity to effectively engage and work with diverse groups to achieve goals.
  • Proven skill delivering reliable youth programs, activities and events that build on existing capacities and strengths.
  • An understanding of youth development principles and practices.
  • Proven ability to work independently and receive feedback from a variety of sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and judgements that provide due consideration to ethical, legal and organisational frameworks.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Murrindindi Shire Council’s Enterprise Agreement. It is also a condition of employment that the successful applicant:

  • Is able to travel to different work sites within the Murrindindi Shire, such as providing evidence of a current drivers licence.
