As a Community Safety Officer with Council, each day will be an opportunity to shape a safer and more cohesive community while promoting education and compliance. 

Council is looking for a Community Safety Officer to undertake animal management and Local Law enforcement. We encourage and maintain compliance through education, mediation, enforcement, and when required, prosecution of breaches against Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and parking legislation.

In your role as a Community Safety Officer, you will work as part of an innovative and close-knit team. Each day presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of community safety and regulatory compliance. 

You will be able to demonstrate industry knowledge and experience working in Local Government, with a focus on quality outcomes and excellent customer service. 

What will you bring

  • A Certificate IV level qualification in Statutory Compliance or Animal Welfare, and / or experience in a similar role and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in relation to Council's Local Laws.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, innovative thinking and accountability.
  • Competent and confident in animal handling of both domestic and farm animals maintaining personal safety and animal welfare.
  • High level time management skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders in a confident and professional manner.
  • Firearms Licence – (This is a requirement of the position and assistance will be provided to obtain the licence, if no licence currently held)
