Flowerdale is in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, 95 km North of Melbourne and 42 km south-west of Yea. Flowerdale is situated in heavily forested and mountainous terrain, surrounded by State Forest and National Park. The main hazards identified by the community include bushfires, windstorms, accidents, and roads and bridges blocked by debris. Localised flooding can also occur.
